Frafra Kologo Rap sensation Big Gad, affectionately known as Wanna Khim, is gearing up to launch the exciting Tigre Festival, a new addition to the vibrant Kologo music scene. The festival is scheduled at the Bongo Sambolgo Level 300 Junction in Akusungu on Wednesday, starting November 8th and culminating in the music festival on November 9th, 2023. Other activities planned for the two days include football and boxing competitions.
Big Gad is one of the pioneering Kologo artists who has skillfully integrated rap into his Kologo performances, earning him numerous accolades and recognition. While previously residing in Accra, where he also pursued a career as a boxer, Big Gad made the decision to return home to fully embrace his Kologo music career. His music resonates with a young audience, and his unique fusion of rap and Kologo instrumentation sets him apart.
In an exclusive interview with My Bolga Online, Big Gad shared his passion for the Tigre Festival, which holds deep personal significance.
“The festival originates from the Putigre Kibsa, a harvest festival. Tigre refers to November in Gurune. In the past, our forefathers used to do Adamkoya, the harvest festival, to celebrate their ancestors. That is the meaning of the Tigre Festival. God and our ancestors have brought us out of the rainy season, so the festival is to celebrate the harvest. I want everyone to come and join us wherever you find yourself. Also, to the musicians, I urge them to come and help me in making this festival a success. I also want sponsorship, so companies and individuals should aid us. We aim that proceeds from the festival will be used to support the educational needs of the children in the community. Naba Sariki Nsoh will grace the occasion, so I urge everyone to come to Sambolga that day.”

Big Gad’s vision for the Tigre Festival is to showcase and celebrate the rich traditions and culture of the community. Notably, the festival aligns with the traditional Adaamokya, a harvest festival that pays tribute to ancestors and expresses gratitude to God for the season’s bountiful harvest. Big Gad’s philanthropic goals for the event include using the proceeds to purchase furniture and educational materials for local schools. He emphasizes the festival’s significance and underscores the substantial preparations, firmly believing it will be a momentous event.
Big Gad’s music catalogue includes numerous chart-toppers such as “Me ye teni,” “One Car Ten Drivers,” “Socre,” “Bisa Tintoo,” and many more, which have gained immense popularity in various online music stores over the years.
