My Bolga Online plans to organise the 2nd edition of the Frafra Music awards festival 2023.
The music awards festival aims to reward and inspire Frafra talent in the music industry. The following are important dates for the activities planned for the awards festival:
- Opening of nominations and submissions of forms begin from 15 February to 10 March 2023.
- Online voting opens from 15 March to 23 March 2023.
- The live performance for pogne will be on Friday, 17 March 2023, at 3 pm at Tap Hotel, Bolga. Live performance for kologo musicians will be on Saturday, 18 March 2023, at 3 pm Tap Hotel, Bolga. We will share links to the voting page online during the live show, which will end on 24 March 2023.
- The final day of the award will be on 25 March 2023 at the GNAT HALL from 7 pm till daybreak.
Opening of Nominations
Nomination forms will be available at Nongre Craft, opposite Comme ci Comme ca hotel, by the orange boarding spot inside the Bolga market. Musicians and pogne dancers can pick their nomination forms from there. Each form costs Ghc50 and must be paid before one can take the form. They can fill out the form and submit it right there, which is recommended, or they can also fill and return it later. The reason behind the nomination fees is to ensure that only serious people pick up the nomination forms. My Bolga Online will try to meet all nominated musicians for a live program to convince people to vote for them before the end of the voting period. However, this will not happen with pogne dancers. If you know you will not be around to perform, choose categories with only online voting.
Online voting
The online voting system allows for a true reflection of the people’s will according to the democratic principle of one-man-one-vote. Not all categories will be through online voting; some categories may have other criteria for determining the winner apart from online voting. Links for voting will be shared on My Bolga Online Page and website. Voting results will show immediately after voting to ensure a transparent process. If there is only one person nominated for a position, it will have a yes or no vote.
Live Performance (17 & 18 March 2023)
To ensure that we revive and maintain the pure kologo sound and to inspire musicians to use raw kologo instruments, many of the categories will be a live performances where kologo musicians will perform and be given marks by a panel of judges who will decide based on a set criterion: The criteria will be among other things, composure, meaningful lyrics, and the reaction of the audience among others. In addition to the decision from the judges, these categories will also be available for online voting. In categories where live performance and online voting are used, each shall have a share of 50% of the total vote count. The kologo live performance will be in two categories, one for the senior artists and the other for the young artists. The question of who is older and who is younger will be left to the musicians themselves.
AWARDS NIGHT (25 March 2023 GNAT HALL 7pm till day break)
On the final day of the awards ceremony, winning artists will perform immediately after accepting their awards. Pogne dancers, however, will not perform on the final day but should be there to receive their awards. Special awards will also be given to to Frafra people doing great for the community.

PRIZES
Prizes will be in the form of trophies, cash prizes ranging from Ghc1000 to Ghc2000 depending on the category and other promotional activities for the artists. In case sponsors come forward, the cash prize can increase. However, this is a modest effort, and we believe that artists will benefit more from the awards festival than the cash prize they will receive.
Conclusion
We encourage everyone to share this information with their friends who are musicians and advise them to apply because even if they do not win, they will get a promotion in the future.
